Title: Account Executive
Founded in 2009, Southern Flourish is an online magazine targeted to the 20- and 30-something Southerner. Our audience is primarily women located in the South, but about 25% of our traffic comes from other parts of the country and the world. Our content includes home and garden, food and travel, fashion and style, and “typically Southern” sections. It is a true lifestyle magazine for a demographic that is not specifically catered to by any other publication. Our issue readership has averaged around 100,000 readers, with the goal to reach 500,000 by end-of-year 2011.
We will produce four issues in 2010, with a goal of 6 issues in 2011. We do offer website advertising, but the Account Executive would be primarily responsible for selling display ads in the online magazine. As with other online magazines, our display advertising presents a unique opportunity for advertisers to track ROI and impact. Our ads are linkable to products and websites and fully trackable. Our current ad prices are $3,495 for a full page and $5,495 for a spread ad.
Compensation: This position is completely commission-based. The Account Executive will earn 25% commission on all ads sold. Commissions paid on a monthly basis.
Qualifications: Top candidates will have 2+ years of magazine ad sales experience, ideally with a lifestyle and/or women’s interest publication. In your cover letter, please discuss the types of contacts that you maintain. Candidates should be able to provide at least 2 references that can attest to past sales success. The ideal candidate will be able to sell 15-20 ads per issue, although there is no ad cap for a real go-getter. Familiarity with Southern demographics a huge plus.
Job Location: This is a work from home job that allows complete freedom in hours. Weekly conference calls and daily email communication will be the primary forms of contact with the company owners.
