Blame the long, hot summers or our naturally social dispositions, but most Southerners have a weakness for well-crafted cocktails. And in Charleston, S.C., it’s truly part of the culture — now more than ever.

In the past year, there’s been a resurgence of places serving creative drinks that harken back to the speakeasies of pre-Prohibition times. Using uncommon ingredients and artisanal techniques, these Southern mixologists show a respect for the past while making the way for a whole new way to sip.
